Gigi Hadid stuns in a figure-hugging dress as she accompanies Kacey Musgraves at the 53rd CMA Awards

They were an odd couple that lit up the red carpet with their lustrous looks.

Gigi Hadid made a surprise appearance at the 53rd CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday as she accompanied country-crossover superstar Kacey Musgraves.

The 24-year-old model and the 31-year-old musician looked stunning in complementary white and yellow gowns.

Gigi was attired in a ribbed off-white dress that reached from just below her chin down to her footwear.

The 5ft10in beauty’s outfit showed off her trim arms, and the slightly sheer reflective material showed off a hint of her write bra underneath.

She arrived with her face elegantly made-up, and she wore her dark blonde tresses swept to one side and resting over her shoulder in gentle waves.

The sister of Bella Hadid capped off her look with a pair of festive white cowboy boots, and she added some dangling gold and diamond earrings.

Kacey continued her exploration of ’60s-influenced outfits and earth tones with a pale yellow gown dotted with yellow, gold and silver sequins, as well as larger silver spangles.

The dress reached even further into the past with its 1920s flapper-inspired feathered skirt and sleeves.

The Golden Hours singer elevated her 5ft5in stature with a pair of pointy dijon-colored heels.

Her raven locks were parted down the middle and styled pin straight down her back.

Kacey was nominated for three CMA Awards, though she was only in contention for one by the time she arrived.

During an appearance on Good Morning America earlier on Wednesday, the country music duo Maddie & Tae announce some of the early awards, including Kacey’s win for Music Video of the Year for her song Rainbow, directed by Hannah Lux Davis.

She was less successful in the early Song of the Year category, in which she was nominated for the same song, along with her co-writers Natalie Hemby and Shane McAnally.

The award, which goes to songwriters rather than performers, went to Luke Comb’s Beautiful Crazy.

She was also nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Kacey is still riding a wave of acclaim from her fourth studio album Golden Hours, which received nearly universal critical acclaim, debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top Country Albums chart, and placed at the top of multiple best album lists for 2018.

Winner: Kacey had already won the Music Video of the Year award for Rainbow, and lost out on the Song of the Year award for the same track

Kacey’s CMAs evening included a special treat: a duet with country icon Willie Nelson.

It was announced on Good Morning America on Monday that she would perform the classic Rainbow Connection, written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher.

The song is best known for its debut in 1979’s The Muppet Movie, but Willie has made it a staple of his repertoire and named his 2001 album after the track.

During the GMA announcement, the program played a short clip of Kacey singing the standard when she was only 9 years old.

Gigi pulled out all the stops on her elegant look for the evening, which was a far cry from the more casual looks she tends to wear when out and about.

Last week she got into a Twitter spat after social media users criticized her relaxed style.

‘She’s such a natural beauty… idk what happened to her iconic street style tho,’ wrote one critic.

‘U guys need to calm tf down sometimes,’ replied Gigi.

‘It’s called stepping out to do one errand- not dressing for your approval. Your unrealistic expectations & petty complaining all the time about my style or not being sexy enough isn’t going to make me dress differently.’

She went on to show her support for women who showed skin or opted for more modest looks.
